WordPress for iPhone and iPad version 2.6

WordPress for the iPhone and iPad v2.6 has just been released. With this new version, you can now record, upload, attach and play videos within the application. As video becomes an increasingly important part of blogging, this functionality will be invaluable for bloggers on the move.

Here is a complete list of the new features:

_Video. Record, upload, attach, and play videos within the app. Yay for being able to catch your friends’ and co-workers’ most embarrassing shenanigans creative moments with iPhone video and publish them immediately for all the world to see on your WordPress site.
_A total rewrite of the way local drafts are handled, to prevent the unintentional loss of your pending posts.
_Autosave/post revisions. Bam! One of the “oh, thank goodness” features of the web app makes it into the iOS version.
_Easier setup. Faster and easier process for adding your sites to the app.
_Media Library. We’re gradually getting closer to the media management you’re used to in the web app.

There are also numerous bugfixes and performance enhancements in this release, so if you haven’t been using the app lately, you should consider giving it another try. I’m personally pretty excited to start using the iPhone version more often now that there are all these fixes and new features. Especially the video upload. You know, for those creative moments that make life fun.

Tandil Theme 1.3.4 Released

Hello everyone! I’m releasing a new version of Tandil Theme today. I’ve had some requests from users to add some lines of the articles, to the category and tag pages. So I added the excerpts feature to the category and tags pages. In the last few versions I minified CSS code, which means that the style.css is going to load faster. This traduces in a faster loading theme.

2010 will be a great year for WordPress and it’s extend framework, WordPress Themes and Plugins. The comnunity is going to get better and better. Soon, WordPress will be a “must have” to run any professional and successful site. Not just blogs, but any site, from e-commerce to personal sites. WordPress is the leading Content Management System.

I will release many more themes next year, so make sure to check this site often and Wp Themes Planet. I will also release Professional Premium Themes during the first months of 2010. Another great news is that I have partenerd with one of my colleagues to start offering free blog hosting to my theme users, but I will release this via Twitter and RSS first, so make sure to subscribe to the RSS and Twitter.

WordPress 2.9.1 Beta 1 released

The recent release of wordpress 2.9 triggered a bug in certain versions of the PHP’s curl extension. With these versions of curl, scheduled posts and pingbacks are not processed correctly. To fix this specific bug as well as a handful of other, lesser issues, we are quickly releasing version 2.9.1, the first maintenance release of the 2.9 line.

Help us get 2.9.1 ready to go by testing 2.9.1 Beta 1. The easiest way to test Beta 1 is to install the WordPress Beta Tester plugin, elect to get on the point release development track, and then perform an automatic upgrade via the Tools -> Upgrade menu in your dashboard. You can also download the Beta 1 package and install manually. Fourteen tickets have been fixed in 2.9.1 Beta 1. Since the curl problem and a couple of other problems are dependent on specific hosting configurations, any and all testing help is greatly appreciated.
